Fresco Harmony

What is Fresco Harmony?

Fresco Harmony is the first complete wall-finishing system that uses common drywall mud as the primary ingredient. Common drywall mud never looked so good!

Two coats of colored drywall mud are troweled onto the surface and then sealed with an acrylic sealer, which is also troweled on. The finished product is an imperfect smooth, leaving a little bit of "texture" from the movement of the trowel. The "texture" looks more like the aesthetic of the veining found in marble combined with the smoothness one would encounter with plaster.

Fresco Harmony's colors are more resistant to fading than paint (you'll never want to paint over it!), it's easier to patch than plaster and a fraction of the cost!

From the Fresco Harmony website:

"By exploiting the versatility of drywall joint compound, Fresco Harmony has created a plaster-like finish that is both efficient and affordable... Because drywall joint compound is our base medium, Fresco Harmony can be applied to virtually any surface. From painted and textured walls, to raw brick fireplaces, wood paneling, and wallpaper, there are no limitations. Oh, and there’s no preparation needed, so no sanding, no acid washing, and no scraping. Pretty sweet."

If you are wanting to liven up your home or workspace with an accent wall or just want to get rid of ugly texture, Fresco Harmony is the solution for you!

In June 2023, I got to travel to Albuquerque, NM, to spend a few days working with Nick Harmon, the developer of Fresco Harmony. Nick is pictured demonstrating how to tool the drywall mud for texture and how to apply the top coat sealer.

Color used on this project is JJ Ash, one of FH's custom colors. The top coat was the Gloss finish, with an epoxy coat on the hearth for extra protection.

The color used here was Deep Navy, another custom color from the FH color library. The homeowner went with the Satin finish on this project.
